Ashton storms to PDC World Championship qualification

Four-time BDO Ladies World Champion Lisa Ashton confirmed her place at the PDC William Hill World Darts Championship as the Bolton-based star came through the UK and Ireland PDC World Championship qualifier at Arena MK on Sunday afternoon.

Ashton joins Anastasia Dobromyslova at Alexandra Palace in December as he stormed through the qualifying event. Over the course of the day, Ashton dropped just five legs, in which all of those five legs came in the Semi-Finals and the final. Ashton sealed qualification as she produced a sensational 132 checkout to see off Devon’s Maria O’Brien 6-3 in the final.

Ashton has been competing on the PDC Challenge Tour in 2018 as well as playing on BDO circuit, and she’ll feel that she can beat anyone that she’s drawn against at the World Championship. It’s a great move by Barry Hearn and the PDC to give Anastasia and Lisa an opportunity of this magnitude and the prize money is not be sniffed at.

Over the course of the qualifying event in Milton Keynes, Ashton enjoyed a string of successes over Sharon Costello (4-0), Stephanie Stutley (4-0), Sarah Ceska (4-0), Jane Densley (4-0), Denise Cassidy (4-0) & Rhian Griffiths 5-2 in the Semi-Finals.

Over the seven matches played, Ashton averaged a respectable 82.49 with a first 9 average of 90.12
