FC United of Manchester bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Warrington Town in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday, with a win over the Yellows at Cantilever Park in the Northern Premier League on Tuesday evening.

For Reynolds’ side, it was a welcomed victory, and crucially, three very important points. Prior to Saturday’s defeat to Warrington at Broadhurst Park, FCUM went six matches unbeaten, and with additions of Alex Curran on loan from Stockport County, Jordan Buckley from Irlam and Alex Babos on loan from Derby County, the strength in depth in terms of quality is evident at the Manchester-based club.

In Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Cantilever Park, the attacking quality on show left FCUM supporters salivating. Jordan Buckley, Alex Curran and Tunde Owolabi lead the attack, those three names combined well over the course of the game.

It was Jordan Buckley, who prior to joining FCUM, scored eight times in eleven starts for Irlam who grabbed an excellent second-half goal, which proved to be the match winner, following a corner.

Speaking after the win, Reynolds was delighted with his team’s performance, and consistency shown throughout.

“I was delighted with it”, said Reynolds. “I was delighted with the whole squad. I can stand here and name individuals, but there’s no better performance than 1-0 away from home against one of the title favourites. I’m absolutely delighted, and one defeat in seven games after Saturday disappointment, we’ve come good tonight.”

Reynolds went on to praise new loan signing Alex Babos: “I’m trying not to get excited. I’m not sure if I’ve seen a better performer than Babos. But it wasn’t just about him, Tunde in the wide area, Curran and Buckley up top, I thought that Potts was instrumental tonight, it was probably the best game that I’ve seen him play.

“It was a great team performance, and we’re now looking forward to training on Thursday and getting ready for Saturday, but don’t doubt them, they’re a talented bunch.”

On the prospect of facing his former club Bamber Bridge on Saturday, Reynolds added: “I had a great ten years at Bamber Bridge, there’s no sentiment for me, my club’s FC United, this is me and I want to be here for years to come. My focus is on getting three points for FC United, the hello’s etc, I’ll say before and after the game, but I’m here, and I’ll be doing everything I can to win Saturday’s game.”
