Chris Dobey will face his mentor Gary Anderson this evening in Glasgow at the Ladbrokes World series of darts finals. It is the first time that Dobey has met his mentor Gary Anderson in a televised match. The pair have met previously on the floor but this will be a stern test for the Bedlington-based ace who enjoyed a memorable victory over the much fancied Austrian Mensur Suljovic as Dobey won six legs on-the-spin as he came from 3-0 behind to win 6-3.
“Gary and I are great friends off the board but you’ve got to put that to one side when you get up on stage.
“Gary has been great to me and playing him in Scotland is going to be tough but I’m ready for it, I’ll just play my game and I’m looking forward to it.
It’s sure to be a terrific battle as Dobey looks to carry on this fine run of form after suffering a dip in form in the first half of the year. Dobey recently admitted that he hasn’t had a great year so far but he was come alive in the second half of the year as the TV tournaments are on the horizon.
