Tennessee’s Joe Chaney produced an impressive run of form in Blackburn at the 2019 BDO World Trophy as ‘the Chainsaw’ completed a 5-2 victory over highly-rated North-East star Gary Robson.

Chaney recorded an average of 92.83 en route, and the Tennessee ace was satisfied with his performance, but insists that ‘the best is yet to come’. In an interview with the BDO, Chaney admits that he’s pleased that he brought his A-game, but there’s plenty more in the tank.

“I’ve been looking for my A-game, I’ve been coming over (to the UK) for several years now”, said Tennessee-based star Chaney.

“I’ve played in a few televised matches down the years, but this is the first time that I’ve Brought my A-game forward.

“I know what I’m capable of, and I’ve watched these guys play, and I know that I’m as good as all of them. So all I have to do is bring my A-game, and I can win.

“I haven’t come here with high expectations”, admitted Chaney. “I’ve come here to play well, and I said to Gary before our game that I don’t care who wins, as long as we have a good match. As long as you play well, you go home with your head held high, win or lose.

Reflecting on the venue and Blackburn itself, Chaney said: “It’s a really nice place (Blackburn), it’s a short walk from hotel, and it’s really nice, I like it.”
