Surrey’s Dave Parletti maintained his red-hot streak of form as the postman delivered on the stage once again as he claimed the Wolverhampton Open title after a hard fought 6-3 victory over Mark Layton.
Parletti got off to a slow start in the final, following his 5-1 obliteration of the former World finalist Andy Hamilton. As Layton opened up a 3-0 lead early on, but despite being three legs behind, Parletti was still producing some quality stuff, and as he remained patient, the opportunities were there for the taking.
The Surrey ace responded in some style as he took the final six legs to take the title from Layton’s grasp. Parletti produced a sensational 127 finish en route, and he wrapped things up in style with a terrific 13 dart-leg.
In the Semi-Finals, Parletti saw off Andy Hamilton in a highly convincing 5-1 victory. This was on the back of his run to the final of the Wolverhampton Classic just 24 hours previously in which he was 5-2 up against Scott Baker as he ended up losing 6-5.
He dusted himself off well, and produced some stunning displays against some of the BDO’s best to take the title.
Prior to that Semi-Final victory over Andy Hamilton, the no.4 seed saw off Nick Kenny (4-1) & Carl Wilkinson (4-2) in the latter stages.
The Surrey-based ace is in some great form, and he’s in a great position for a spot at the Grand Slam & the Lakeside World Championship.
