Dave Chisnall completed an excellent weekends work as he tasted success at the PDC Danish Darts Open in Copenhagen.

In just the second staging of the event, Chisnall produced a string of consistent performances en route to the title.

For Chisnall, it’s his third PDC title of 2019, his second European Tour title since 2013, and his fifteenth PDC ranking title win.

In the final, Chisnall saw off Bedlington’s Chris Dobey (pictured above) who produced some of the best form of his career to reach his first Euro-Tour final.

Following his best run on the Euro-Tour, Dobey was full of admiration for his opponent and good friend.

“I’m gutted with the score-line, but I came here to do a job, and that was to secure a Matchplay spot, and I think I’ve done that now.

“The crowd has been fantastic all weekend, and if I could pick a lad to lose to, then it would be Chizzy.”

Chisnall brushed aside Dobey in an 8-3 victory, in which Dobey couldn’t quite replicate the form that he produced in denying Gerwyn Price a run to the title.

Earlier on in the final day of action, Chisnall enjoyed some great victories over the likes of Mensur Suljovic, in which Chisnall survived two match-darts before edging out the Austrian in a 6-5 victory.

As the day progressed, Chisnall really found his comfort zone as he brushed aside Jermaine Wattimena in a 6-1 win, before completing a last-gasp 7-6 victory over Welshman Jonny Clayton.

After securing his third PDC title of the year, and the £25,000 first prize, Chisnall was also full of admiration for Chris Dobey.

“I keep getting close, but I always run into Van Gerwen. I felt good all day playing, I had a good crowd here, cheering me, Chris and all the other players on.

“It’s been a fantastic weekend for me, but you have to give it to Chris, he didn’t play his best, thank god.”
